The City of Joburg will be hosting the upcoming event, ‘Sophiatown Mix’, a celebration of culture, history, and community spirit.

This vibrant event is set to take place at 12pm on 21 March 2024 at the Dr Xuma Museum and Cultural Centre and the neighboring Traver Huddelston Memorial Centre, 71-73 Toby Street, Sophiatown. It promises to be an unforgettable experience that pays homage to the rich heritage of Sophiatown.

With a captivating line-up of young jazz musicians such as well-known guitarist Billy Monama & band, popular upcoming pianist Josh Mokoena & band among others, inspired by Kofifi Culture, an enthralling exhibition of the life and times of Henry Nxumalo and a pop-up store selling music heritage shirts designed by upcoming young artists, attendees will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the diverse and dynamic tapestry that defined Sophiatown in its heyday.
