The History of SAMWU in Johannesburg Municipality Photographic Exhibition

The History of SAMWU in Johannesburg Municipality dating back from the era of the President Petros Mashishi in Johannesburg Municipality . The union was founded on 24 October 1987, when the Municipal Workers’ Union of South Africa merged with the Cape Town Municipal Workers’ Association (CTMWA), and the municipal workers’ sections of General Workers’ Union of South Africa, South African Allied Workers’ Union and Transport and General Workers’ Union. During his times and his leadership as a giant representing working class principles of co-operation ,democracy ,probity and in human values.

The Exhibition will display different transition to democracy and in the more recent times.The Exhibition will focus on the current transition of SAMWU forging worker unity with its current leadership. A struggle to advance the rights of the Workers to justice and equalty.

The Exhibition will  showcase collection of Photographs , Posters and protests that took place in the Johannesburg in the past and current Municipal Labour struggles and demands.
