Annual Choral Festival

Choral Music is an essential element of African Vocal Expression, an experience that all music lovers should be part of. It is a genre that South Africa has uniquely structured as part of its rich musical heritage and offering to the world.

The Annual Joburg Choral Festival is an initiative of the City of Johannesburg’s directorate of Arts, Culture and Heritage and has been developed to support the choral music community within the City. The Festival, which is one of the city’s flagship programmes started in June 2017 at The Orlando Communal Hall and has evolved through its 5 years of existence to positively impact the choral music fraternity.

The Joburg Choral festival aims to promote choral music development in Johannesburg, this programme has increased appreciation for this art form and has been instrumental in the revival of this genre. This has created both a present and future market both at a production and consumption level.
