EYETHU CINEMA Ephraim Batana and Caroline Kinini Tshabalala (ne Ngcobo) were renowned entrepreneurs and prominent community leaders. From the 1940Õs, they built thriving retail and service businesses, enriching the local economy. In 1969, they established Eyethu Cinema, a modernist, state-of-the art two-tier venue with 1,400 seats, which became a cultural hub for films, performing arts, and community events. After closing in the 1990s, the cinemaÕs legacy was revived in 2025 with Eyethu Heritage Hall.
